The second magazine from ‘Below the Surface’, When Black Meets White explored identity, race-relations and lived experiences at the height of the Black Lives Matter movements.

It prompted 12 African-heritage Australians from the Victorian community to unpack what happens when they exist and function in predominantly white spaces.

Join us for a thought provoking panel discussion facilitated by Lydia Tesema with young Melbourne writers and creatives, Ivy MutukuNoah DaCostaWinniy Manyang and Abdul Yusuf.

Lydia is an Australian-born, Ethiopian radio presenter, host, multidisciplinary creative, community developer, founder and editor of 'Below The Surface' magazine.

Ivy is a Kenyan born, Melbourne photographer and filmmaker with a fire for visual storytelling.

Noah is a radio presenter, videographer, writer and creator of the platform Bourne & Bred.

Winniy is a South Sudanese-Australian woman, who migrated to Australia as a child and now works as a community support worker, youth advocate and model/ content creator.
